2024 - 02 - 13 /// Edhochuli released, Onewaymirror + Gxllium! premiere

February 14, 2024 by David Norman

After a decade of loving Edhochuli we were able to get on that brand spankin’ new 12”LP ‘Higherlander’ and we couldn’t be prouder. Snag a copy. Take a journey.

What just might end up being split of the year just got a double song-premiere via (((((OPENmind/SATURATEDbrain))))). Check out a new/ridiculous jam from both Onewaymirror and Gxllium! by click on this text or the pic above.

Burial Etiquette was interviewed by Everything Is Noise. Their debut 12”LP releases March 25th, 2024 on none other than Zegema Beach! Click on the pic above or this text to do the full read.

How Can I Forget is a most excellent podcast featuring a member of Party Hats! They interviewed Aaron from Me And Him Call It Us, chatting about lots of cool stuff including ZBR Fest last year and Party Hats’ upcoming 2024 fest performance.

CanaDave went down to Victoria because he’s heard the new Emma Goldman material and wanted to catch that shit live. Oh my god. They did not disappoint. Watch their full set below or click on the pic above or this text to see videos from 75% of the bands that played.

Johnny’s Reco-mmendations: LOCKSLIP = Sick, unrelenting, chaotic/metallic hardcore from LA. Free/donation-based download available. Thanks to TJ for getting me to TJ McSnaggerson.

2023 - 02 - 28 /// Letterbombs is out!

February 28, 2023 by David Norman

The new Letterbombs EP is out on Tomb Tree and simultaneously 1) kicks ass 2) is thematically/lyrically important 3) looks awesome. Includes translated lyric sheet and numbered /26!!!

CanaDave was interviewed about ZBR Fest 2023 by none other than Chicago-based Invisible Oranges. He speaks about doing the fests over a couple of years, who he’s most excited to see, if we’ll do another Canadian fest, and what you can expect from this year’s ridiculousness (including battle-set definition). Click on this text or the pic below to go to the interview.

Lower Automation was the most recent guest on The Cast That Ends Creation. The 12” continues to do well and if their last LP is any indication we will likely be sold out at some point during 2023. Check out the album here!

CanaDave buckled down and did another Out Past the Rings for the sold out 4-way split from 2019 titled ‘Hymnes aux désarrois de la peau‘. Listen to the album here.

Johnny’s Reco-mmendations: NHOMME = I recently found a live video of an unreleased Nhomme song and I’m obsessed with it. Let’s be obsessed together.

2022 - 11 - 21 /// Victor Shores today, Lower Automation tomorrow but also kinda today!

November 21, 2022 by David Norman

Written around half-of-a-decade ago and recorded three years ago, the brand new/debut full length from Minnesota’s Victor Shores is finally upon us! Tapes from Tomb Tree ship early December and 12”s from No Funeral ship 2023. Amazing, cathartic, uplifting emo punk from three very awesome individuals. For fans of: Tiny Moving Parts, You’ll Live, and Sincere Engineer.

CanaDave also did a podcast with Victor Shores (linked below) and in that podcast there was a brand new Keratin song premiered! Check it out for at least those two reasons, but there are tons more.

Lower Automation full release tomorrow, but Mathcore Index has an exclusive stream (with special links) as well as Metallerium who is ahead of the pack and already posted a full album review! Click here for the Metallerium post or click anywhere else here for the Mathcore Index premiere.

CanaDave witnessed the Thank You Driver show this past weekend and was lucky enough to have a camera ready for the band’s cover of “Moral Eclipse” by Cave In. I saw the band sell a hefty amount of their tapes, and we traded for some cds so expect a Thank You Driver discography cd set coming in early December.

Johnny’s Reco-mmendations: A MOURNING STAR = This band closed the night at the Thank You Driver release show and it was fucking awesome. Hard Poison The Well vibes minus the clean vocals.

2022 - 11 - 19 /// Lower Automation premiere + Thank You Driver show

November 19, 2022 by David Norman

CanaDave goes to like…2-3 shows a year so this is big for him. In BC tonight? Go see the Thank You Driver show and say hi to him. It’s technically the band’s release show and I’ll have some serious heat at the ZBR Distro table. Even linked via this text!

Lower Automation fired out their final premiere via Heavy Blog Is Heavy for “Genuflect“, another mind-bending jam to give further insight on the ridiculous 12”LP that releases next Tuesday. Click on this text for the premiere.

We didn’t sell out in 24 hours but Piri Reis’ ‘Ritma’ just sold about 75% of our stock in that time. No way these copies last into 2023.

There will be a podcast going up on Sunday for Victor Shores, just a day ahead of their new/debut full length album ‘Victor Shores’ releasing on tape via Tomb Tree and 12” from No Funeral. Keep your eyes and ears peeled for that. I’ll be posting it after I return from the Thank You Driver show maybe 2pm PST.

Johnny’s Reco-mmendations: ALGORILLATHYM = Very cool stuff shown to me by Dave of Victor Shores because he mixed it!

2022 - 11 - 17 /// Piri Reispress on Friday!!!

November 17, 2022 by David Norman

Piri Reis repress tomorrow! The first press of ‘Ritma’ sold out in a day and we had 50 copies. Same deal this time but on a new/sick splatter variant. Plus a nice little distro update that includes Daighila’s new 12”LP, Blue Skies Fade tapes, and the new Pique 12”LP.

Me And Him Call It Us were on the (((((OPENmind/SATURATEDbrain))))) podcast and Aaron gave Zegema Beach Records some love. This also acted as a soft Lower Automation premiere for their new song “End Scene”, the closer from the Nov 22nd ‘Strobe Light Shadow Play’ 12”LP. Click on this text or the picture below to listen!

Oooo baby Paramind Recordings posted the full Virgin Mother set! 12”s still available through Tomb Tree!

Speaking of full sets, here’s Orphaned’s full set from earlier this month at Saint Vitus. Tomb Tree released four massive songs on the band’s debut cassette, a few copies still remain.

Infall was reviewed on Grind On The Road and got an awesome grade! Way to go fellas! This full length is getting A LOT of attention so nab a tape while you still can! Click on this text to go to the review.

Here’s a мятеж/Samarra review in the ongoing This Noise Is Ours series for the Zegema Beach Records Roster Review. We actually still have tapes of this! Why? I have no idea Samarra was sick as fuck and this is the only place you can actually hear the worst мятеж song ever. Click on this text to read the review and nab a tape through the embedded Bandcamp link below.

Massa Nera’s new single/music video “Adrift” was featured on Destroy//Exist. Check it out by clicking on this text!

Johnny’s Reco-mmendations: DAIGHILA = Malaysia’s longest running screamo band came back this year with a momentous 12”LP that we now have in stock. Jam 3 of the songs on their bandcamp and get a full download if you snag the 12”.
