Monterey’s debut 12”LP ‘It Always Passes Over Me’ is out and turning a lotta heads. A truly fantastic album, there’s so much variety and unique things happening on here that I could compare parts to bands like Brahm and Beau Navire to City Of Caterpillar and even Concealer. Whether it’s lightning screamo, post-rock/screamo, emo, or crunchy metallic hardcore, this band has you covered like it’s their day job cuz they pulled this off like it’s their fourth album, not their first.

Ghola’s debut 12”LP ‘Aeon’ is next and releases Monday September 28th! Oooo baby, so close. These are also in hand and sound amazing. Monterey is next and it’s a fucking bombshell. Featuring members of Concealer and Rosemary Nods Upon The Grave, the band has their own wild flair but is definitely for fans of Brahm, Beau Navire, Empathetic, and the like with a bit of Portraits Of Past thrown in for good measure. This 12”LP ‘it always passes over me…’ releases tomorrow, September 18th, via ZBR and Third House at 9am PST / 11am CST / 12pm EST! Supergroup Ghola released their first single (below) with an accompanying music video (above)! Featuring members of Crowning, Itto, Lord Snow, Stormlight, Oaktails, Frail Body, and Greed Worm, their debut 12”LP ‘Aeon’ releases September 28th and vinyl is in hand!

Vancouver’s Taking Tiger Mountain has their debut EP releasing October 23rd on Zegema Beach via cassette and cd! The band shares members with another sick local band named Often Wrong, but this band brings the chunkier, heavier screamo that Orchid, Shesmadefromsuede, and Grimlitter. Here’s a snippet of a video that I took last month.

If you were worried that screamo was becoming stagnant or overly conventional then we present to you the new 3-song EP from Japan’s NHOMME. This new set of songs sets a very high bar for mathy/jazzy screamo with an emphasis on clean guitars, wild bass, playful drums, super high-pitched vocals, and dynamically mindboggling song structures. Not only is the music jaw-dropping, but the band created a music video showing the process used to make the cassette packaging (linked here) for the second track from this release. As a final cherry on top the tapes all come swirled, and in the rarer cases in swirled bags. Truly a one-of-a-kind release.

Cassettes 1st run: /146, 87 on black/white sparkle swirl (band edition), 44 pink swirl swirl (ZBR edition), 10 black/orange swirl in a swirled bag, and 5 test dips w/matching swirl case and swirled bag.

2nd run: /152, 95 on white/black sparkle swirl (band edition), 40 multi-color swirl, 10 purple sparkle swirl, 5 bandcamp to-go bag swirl, 4 test dips with matching swirl case, and 3 clear.

Jisei’s full length album ‘Gets Worse’ releases on 12” via ZBR in November! This band is a beacon of hope while simultaneously crushing the listener. An absolute feast of mathcore with this math-rock/math-metal spit ‘I don’t watch sports anymore’ from CHARGER PORT and SERLING. Both bands bring some serious heat, with the former relying on groovy and mathy instrumental rock/post-hardcore/prog while the latter lay down destructive, wonky, intense, mathy metallic hardcore/metal. The 25 black and 25 clear lathes are 45rpm stereo and sound fantastic (like a regular vinyl, basically), complete with inserts and one-of-a-kind painted jackets by Josh of Vamonos Tapes with a few alternate designs! Said alternate covers (the non-black ones) will be randomly inserted in orders, so cross those fingas! Released on Tomb Tree, King Fisher, and Soft Grit. Hey y’all! Large happenings are on the horizon!!! First off we’ve got Big Stuff Thing #7 going down on Friday September 11th that will include Concealer 12”s, Sear wax mage, a bunch of test presses, and more.

Second, Tomb Tree releases All That’s Left Of You’s debut self-titled EP on September 4th which is this Friday (Bandcamp Friday, no less). This thing is absolutely badass and I’m dipping those tapes right now.

Third, there’s the Monterey 12”LP release on September 18th for ‘it always passes over me’ which features members of Concealer and Rosemary Nods Upon The Grave!

Fourth, after that we have a supergroup release in late September from Ghola but I’ll give you more info on that soon.

Lastly, in the meantime please scope that Rainmaking x Senza split 12” and the Nuvolascura ‘As We Suffer From Memory and Imagination’ 12”LP repress as well as the Juniper Smile tapes released on Softseed a little futher down.

Juniper Smile released their posthumous, self-titled album today on Softseed Music. This band features Griffin on drums who plays in Cadere with ZBR Dave and played a very playful mixture of punk, indie, emo, and shoegaze. I made 29 cassettes but the band has more than half so I only have 3-5 of each variant and then they’re gone and won’t be repressed, so snag it now!!!

Wollruss played Victoria last week alongside Manitoba’s Leavesliketinyflames and additional local support from Treewell and Csilla’s Star Is Gone. Twas a fucking blast and honestly insane for a Thursday show. Check out the full recap below with a song from each band. No future dates are booked for Wollruss or Cadere until late November at the earliest.

What the fuck is going on, I shouldn’t have a Majorel cassette still. This is one of the best EPs ZBR has ever put out and this is a rare test edition.
