2025 - 06 - 02 /// Heaven Through Violence + Rosemary Nods Upon The Grave!

June 02, 2025 by David Norman

The surprise Heaven Through Violence + Rosemary Nods Upon The Grave split came out digitally last night at midnight! These two newer bands have big followings already and this collection of four new songs will just amplify that. Two newbies from each band, we’ll have opaque yellow 7” (label copies) and transparent yellow 7” (band copies) vinyl of this late June/early July alongside Larry Records, Severed Records, and Gallowdance.

Click here for the full review!

Rocking blog posted a great review (english translation needed for most) for the new Emma Goldman album ‘all you are is we’. We are now down to 5 blob copies, with red dwindling down that will no way make it to the end of 2025 before selling out. Just a friendly reminder! Click on the pic above or this text to go to the review

Lastima got an absolutely wicked plug from Hate5Six in their Concert Film format. Watch it and after needing a copy snag one immediately from our bandcamp or this Canada/International store as the US shop already sold out. We have about 4 copies left.

Operation X-Ray went hard this past week, including tracks from Fallingwithscissors, Mourn Recif, Usurp Synapse, Missouri Executive Order 44, Waunband, and Othiel!

There were some cool videos of Blue Youth uploaded recently. Check out part 1 of 2 above. Jam/buy the album below. Blue Youth forever!!!

Click here for the full article!

Sutras got some nice words from Darkenin Heart, and even provided an interview which you can read by clicking on the pic above or this text. Jam/buy their ‘Crisis of Existence’ below via Tomb Tree.

The ‘Disappearing Mouths’ split by Social Caterpillar and Waunband got some love (the latter, specifically) on the newest Chin Music episode. Check it out by clicking on this text. Jam/buy the album below.

Johnny’s Reco-mmendations: KRISTEVA = Shiiiiit got more bands from Richmond, Virginia reminding us that it was screamo of the capital of the world for a reason!

2025 - 05 - 26 /// Othiel + andthecanaryfell. released!

May 26, 2025 by David Norman

Othiel’s new album ‘World’s Fastest Car’ is officially out on cd! The physicals arrive at our US store on Wednesday and we’ll start shipping them out then. This new release includes re-recorded versions of their Palefade. split as well as five brand new jams of epic, devastating, and gorgeous screamo/post-hardcore. We only made 200 and shot some to the band for their upcoming tour with Knumears.

Ooo baby it’s double release day, as Tomb Tree just dropped the new andthecanaryfell. EP on cassette titled ‘As The Ice Melts’ and it’s a fucking nightmare collection of five songs that will test your brain’s resolve. Featuring members of Fallingwithscissors, this band creates a lush and crushing atmosphere not unlike Meth. and Detach The Islands. Clear /45, swirl /30, and test dips /6. Snag’em now!

Everything Remade had Victoria (vocals) of Emma Goldman on and it’s a great listen! Also we are down to just 10 copies of blob variant between ZBR Canada (ships worldwide though/linked here) and our bandcamp (embedded below). US store is sold out!

Click here for the full round-up list!

Dagerman got some love from Eklektik Rock. This Italian band’s debut release is fucking exceptional, and fans of Raein, Vibora, La Quiete, and Ojne will get a kick out of it. Click on the pic above or this text to go to the full review. Jam/buy below!

The Crowning x Oaktails split 12” came out on Friday via ZBR and Larry so snag a copy now before we sell out. We ALWAYS sell out of Crowning stuff pretty quickly and the band has a few shows with in mid-June where they will shed all of their copies.

Oh shit there’s a Lastima article we forgot to mention, probably because our label wasn’t mentioned so we didn’t see it. We did the 12” LPs though and they’re running low! Click on the pic above or this text to go to the article and jam/buy below!

Mango Wave Magazine reviewed Sutras, giving it 8/10 mangoes. Tapes still remain, snag a copy and get positive, baby! Click on this text or the pic above to see the full review.

Prism Reviews propped up Avery Friedman’s debut album that was released on CanaDave’s other label Softseed Music. This stellar album is available for pre-order on 12” in the Bandcamp embed below. Click on the pic above or this text to go to the review.

Blue Youth were given a hefty nod by the legendary Heavy Blog Is Heavy for their new album ‘Defeatist’. Snag a 12” from ourselves or The Ghost Is Clear Records.

Operation X-Ray played Othiel, andthecanaryfell., and Lastima! The first two were premieres btw, so be sure to check that show weekly as we premiere a lotta shit there <3

Johnny’s Reco-mmendations: VALATIA = Oh shit this album is amazing. Both jarring and beautiful, if you like Aspartame, Burial Etiquette, or Clay Birds but want it a tad heavier you need to scope this immediately.

2025 - 05 - 13 /// Clay Birds out, Mau next

May 13, 2025 by David Norman

Emma Goldman’s ‘all you are is we’ is tearing shit up, as well as already nearly selling out of the 1st of two variants, Anthony Fantano did a review video on The Needle Drop which is fucking huge to have someone that big pick up on an underground screamo record. Watch above, listen/buy below!

Clay Birds released last week and like 95% of copies are sold out. I think there are 5 copies left in the U.S. store but everything else is gonezo. Absolutely amazing release, wicked people, and sick as fuck live.

Máu 10”s for ‘Anthesis’ will release this Thursday! I snapped a few promo pics of this as the b-side is etched and the entire package just looks hella cool. And the music…my god the music! Incredible stuff from these Cali homies. We’ll have 50 copies of the 300, with the rest being with the band. 9am PST / 11am CST / 12pm EST.

Nuvolascura’s ‘As We Suffer From Memory and Imagination’ was the most recent topic of Out Past the Rings #193. Not only that, but with a new album on the way in late July the band got an extra bump from Brooklyn Vegan with their lead single “and in the end, you threw it all away”. Click on the pic above or this text to go there. Watch the OPTR below.

Click here for the Joyzine review!

Joyzine reviewed the Avery Friedman album which you can check out by clicking on the pic above or this text. Release show is this Thursday! Buy the 12”s below.

Sutras got some love from Destroy//Exist which you can check out by clicking on this text or the pic above. Listen/buy below!

Coup D’etat, Emma Goldman, Shibuya, and Llewelyn got a shout-out and play from the always reliable Operation X-Ray.

Johnny’s Reco-mmendations: TELOS = Listen and weep cuz it’s so good but the band is so dead :( We got tapes of the LP left, snag’em now (by clicking on this text) or forever hold your peace.

2025 - 04 - 29 /// Emma Goldman out, now it's ZBR Fest time!

April 29, 2025 by David Norman

Emma Goldman’s ‘all you are is we’ is officially out and ready to make you revolt, dance, scream, and have your mind blown all in the same instant. Easily a contender for screamo album of the year in the year of our Skramz 2025. 12 tracks of self-described “gabber skramz”, and hot damn that genre mash holds up nicely. Get absolutely ruined below and pick up either a transparent yellow w/red blob (/150) or opaque red (/150) 12” vinyl.

This is the last post before we buckle down for ZBR Fest 2025, so no shipping orders, updates here/facebook/Bluesky. Check out Instagram to stay up to date and this news page will be updated after the fest is over and the Daves get some sleep. Check out 2022 and 2023 recap videos of every band below, and snag the last of our tickets above. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED if you live in Chicago…cuz you’ll never know when we won’t be doing them there anymore. Click on this text for tickets. Check out 2023’s fest above and 2022 below.

Not Just A Phase just premiered the final Social Caterpillar release via their split 12” with Waunband. It releases on Softseed Music on May 2nd but as CanaDave will be a little busy with the fest and not in Canada, he will have it up upon his return May 8th. Jam it now though by clicking on this text or the picture above. Check out their final full length below (which we still have 12” copies of).

Click here for all the links you need and the podcast!

CanaDave did a podcast with Dan of Satsuma (and Suck City…and The Reptilian…aaaaaaand Seventeen Again) which you should check out by clicking on this text or the pic above. We’ve got a total of 3 tapes left for ‘this is my outside voice’ in the stores linked below (where you can also jam it).

Click here for the full article!

No Depression gave the Avery Friedman album a lotta love so be sure to check that out and for science’s sake check out ‘New Thing’ if you haven’t already! Click on the pic above or this text for the review, jam/buy below.

Click here for the full review!

Sutras has so many reviews it’s ridiculous, but I totally understand why. Here’s a new one from Punk Rock Mag which you can access by clicking the pic above or this text. Jam/buy below.

Operation X-Ray played brand new jams from Emma Goldman and Nuvolascura among countless others.

Johnny’s Reco-mmendations: ORPHANED = New album coming soon plus we still have tapes of their previous EP (embedded below). Wicked atmospheric black metal with great lyrics.

2025 - 04 - 21 /// Sinema 12"s tomorrow!!!

April 21, 2025 by David Norman

Sinema is tomorrow. TOMORROW! These won’t last so this is your second-to-last reminder to get in the stores before 9am PST / 11am CST / 12pm EST tomorrow April 22nd. ‘After the Flatline’ is /250 all on black 12”s. They also play ZBR Fest and I’m fucking so goddamned excited. Look at that new stage setup!!! (thanks Josh!)

Lastima is releasing on 12” on May 16th via Tomb Tree, and the band has recently released their first single “Al Cerro Ancón”. Tape/cd orders from Liminal Dread Productions open single vinyl releases with album. Wicked post-everything that dabbles in the waters of Respire’s early material with more flute and viola and less trumpet.

Operation X-Ray played heaps of bangers including Blue Youth’s “Defeatist” and Sinema’s “Stutter”. Glad your kid is doing better Andre <3

Click here for the full interview!

The amount of incredible press that Avery Friedman’s ‘New Thing’ has received is both prodigious and deserved. Her debut album is up for pre-order on Softseed Music as well as tape from Audio Anti-Hero. Expect a podcast with CanaDave next! Click on the pic above or this text for the full interview with The Line Of Best Fit.

Click here for the full review!

Destroy//Exist did a little write-up for Blue Youth’s only single that can pretty much be applied to the rest of the album. Check it out by clicking on the pic above or this text. Jam/buy the ‘Defeatist’ 12”LP below!

Click here for the full track-by-track!

Idioteq.com interview/track-by-track with duo Sutras following their ‘The Crisis of Existence’ release on Tomb Tree. Check it out by clicking on the pic above or this text. Jam/buy below, and remember it’s a low run of just 35 tapes!

Johnny’s Reco-mmendations: YA BUNAYYA = I only just heard ‘Beyond the Numeric Time’ by this incredible band. Can’t wait to see what they release next.
