Joliette is still kicking ass around Europe, and just days before we drop their new 12” we’ve got a brand spankin’ new music video for “Charlotte”, the fourth track off of the release. ‘Luz de Bengala’ 12”EPs release in full on Friday at 9am PST / 11am CST / 12pm EST over three variants!!! Five years in the making, the Orbit Cinta Benjamin and Flirt split is now available! Our little offshoot Tomb Tree made the swirl tapes for this release and we only made 50! Copies still available in both stores but the rarer variants are almost gone!

CanaDave finally got back in the saddle and pumped out one of the most important Out Past the Rings, that for Senza’s 2019 masterpiece ‘Even a Worm Will Turn’. We are out of 12”s! Only tapes remain. Unless you see them live then you better believe you’ll be snagging that 12”. Listen to it here.

CanaDave and Egin go way back, so it was a little upsetting that they hadn’t done a podcast together. Rectified. Egin Kongoli plays guitar/vox for Respire and is one of three founding New Friends DIY members. When the The Sawtooth Grin confirmed to play our fest we pretty much lost our brains. Then we saw the band warmup and members from other bands stood around with jaws agape. Then we saw them tear the place apart to close out ZBR Fest 2023. And that’s it. We’re done here. But fret not, CanaDave has an entire post with new videos from every band that will be posted on his blog (((((OPENmind/SATURATEDbrain))))) at the beginning of September! See ya’ll next year!!!

Our 100th release is a celebration of this window into the future of screamo. Not even 19 years old, WIDOWDUSK hail from California and have been gathering a bunch of hype along the way. This the band’s pre-LP material and marks a shift into darker/screamier territory. IHUNTMONSTERS is a solo project from In Case Of Capture. This collection of songs are ridiculously heavy and concise, bringing to mind false grind meets emo-violence and panic chords. So fucking good. And the tapes? Perhaps the most beautiful we’ve ever done. On two variants, Tomb/Tree. Alternate art (the blue-ish one) by Kyle Calvert Design.

Operation X-Ray gave a shout-out to ZBR again in their 2nd comeback episode, featuring Dear Diary This Is From My Teenage Angst To My Adult Self as well as Hillsboro who is releasing on CanaDave’s softer label Softseed Music in September.

Mathcore Index’s Mathcast gave some love to Seasons Worn who released their sophomore EP a few weeks back on Tomb Tree. Amazing metalcore with prog influences. Tapes still in stock!!!

Both Dave’s have been in love with Closet Witch for years (we even sport identical couple hoodies!) so it was a no brainer to ask the Iowa-based band to tear our ears apart. And they did. Not Just A Phase volume 2 compilation is out! It’s amazing! 20 unreleased tracks! Tapes are flying, get one. Widowdusk and Ihuntmonsters comes out on Monday via Tomb Tree. There are 102 copies. Almost 1,000 people liked the Instagram post so methinks we drastically under-ordered. Be there 9am PST / 11am CST / 12pm EST on August 14th!!!

We had to restock the Loose Teeth and Constrain split because this store and Bandcamp sold out in 24 hours while the US store copies just sat there, so we took 75% of that stock and shipped it back to Canada. We’ll keep these in the shop until Tuesday then whatever leftovers we have I’m sending to the band for tour.

Last summer Tomb Tree was approached by Loose Teeth to release their first output since the ‘A Commorbid Letter’ that the two had worked on together. Their split partners were introduced later and floored us, just like the new Loose Teeth material. A truly commanding split between two of Ontario’s sickest live bands. Part metallic hardcore, part metal, part emotive. Fer fuck’s sake even Thomas Erak of The Fall Of Troy lends his vocal talents to the opening track! 2023 - 07 - 21 /// Congratulations In Loving Memory

In Loving Memory first release in 20 years is out in full! Digitals and cassettes are available/shipping next week! The band also has 12”s for sale/pre-order and that closes in just a few short days. The fact that we were asked to make tapes for this is a serious compliment that we did not take lightly, we are truly honored. Snag’em now, they won’t last long! I also found two full length stragglers so they’re up in the store too, right next to the new EP :)

The big mage news over here is that one of our favourite releases, all the way back at #30, is the Congratulations cassette. We spoke with No Funeral Records well over a year ago about doing vinyl and this Wednesday July 26th our plans come to fruition. If you have no idea who Congratulations is then feel free to peep this release show in Hamilton that CanaDave put on back in 2014, linked here, with Terry Green and Nous Etions.
