The Vault opens tomorrow

Yo, The Vault opens tomorrow. It’s a page of products that will be for sale that are long sold out (ZBR / Tomb Tree) as well as things from CanaDave’s personal collection that he just doesn’t need anymore. That includes a variant set of Supine’s ‘No Altar For The Company Man’, a Louise Cyphre demo tape, a rare Kodan Armada tape /10, a bunch of long-sold out Larry stuff, etc. The Vault will be posted in a new tab (at the top of this page next to “Zegema Beach Releases”) that will appear on Saturday April 1st at 9am PST / 11am CST / 12pm EST and will close on Sunday at 11:59pm PST, with the tab becoming inactive and the unsold products remaining with me as personal copies.

What is the Zaffle? The Zaffle is a raffle contest where you can buy tickets to win 12” mages, 7” mages, stupid fancy vinyl, 12” handmades, and then 12” and 7” test presses (raffled off in that order). Once you win something, the rest of your ballots will be removed. The tickets are open to purchase now (linked above this text) and close on Sunday at 6pm PST when the draw is held live on instagram. Winners will be contacted by email and only pay shipping UNLESS you are coming to ZBR Fest in which case you will not be charged shipping and can just pick it up there.

Screamo is a strange concept. It was birthed under different names, then bastardized, it learned to walk, and has since been the lead of my life. It’s such a special thing that when people and bands really embrace the concept it lights up another bulb in the basement that is screamo history. New Jersey quartet MASSA NERA have fully embraced this for years, to the point of making a cocoon and transforming themselves into something new. The chrysalis opens December 2nd, 2022 and resembles something akin to City Of Caterpillar meets Kidcrash with the urgency of Crowning. Opener “An Endless Cycle“ is a whopping 7:27 of controlled chaos, gorgeous transitions and epic builds while “Tristeza Consume” and “Eyeless Faces” are unforgiving flames. Standout track “Shapeshift“ shows the band first at their heaviest/fastest followed by a five-minute electronic/dub-step interlude that raises the entire record up an additional pedestal. Realizing the importance and general amazingness of this album, Zegema Beach has teamed up with the band to bring you over 500 12”s across three variants, 200 tapes across seven variants, and 100 cds. Each media has a very different feel with different art, different color patterns, and different inserts/extras. One of the most critical screamo releases ever.

12” /500 = 100 on white, 150 on seafoam, and 250 on splatter, all with obi-strip and 32-page lyric booklet. 12 songs.

cassettes /200 = 50 grey, 50 frosty, 20 green swirl, 20 blue swirl, 20 maroon swirl, 20 black/white swirl, and 20 test dips, all with fold-out lyric pamphlet and two-sided j-card.

ZBR Fest Mid-West 2022 videos from the June 11th Day 1 are definitely moving along now. Here are two videos (the 2nd and 3rd bands of the night. Pains was without a doubt the heaviest set of the entire fest. Get fucked.

Cara Neir’s ‘Phantasmal’ is coming up very, very, VERY SOON. July 29th to be exact. We’ve got 150 of the primary variant, 100 handmades, and 25 wax mages going up at 9am PST / 11am CST /12pm EST. Only one copy of each variant allowed per order. 16 tracks of hardcore/grind/black-metal/chip-tune/noise/screamo bliss continue the 'Phase Out’ trilogy, this one being horror-themed and ominous as fuck. We’ve got a song premiere happening over the weekend and variant pics coming next week! Until then here are the variant names, which give you a good idea of what the wax might look like :)

And what’s that? Rando insertions? You bet your ass. As we have this entire run we can help out those who can’t score a coveted mage or handmade (the infinity splatter). What the hell am I talking about? Well, rando insertions are our way of evening the playing field and having about 1 in every 10 primary switched out for an infinity or mage variant at no extra cost. So if you miss on drop day, fret not! Your odds of getting one in the “rando insertion” is probably just as high as scoring on the madness known as 9am PST / 11am CST / 12pm EST.

ZBR Fest Mid-West 2022 videos from the June 11th Day 1 are officially rolling out as of today! First up is opener Scenario who put out a sick 12”EP on Zegema Beach and The Ghost Is Clear last year (which is still in stock and linked to this text) and although it’s a great fuckin’ EP, their live show was next level. That kind of energy is generally reserved for the locals on release night or a big band coming through on tour…not the opener. Those riffs are so fucking yummy.

There’s a really good review of the ‘Ritma’ full length by Piri Reis by the blog Junklist. All the labels sold out in a few days so we’ll be doing a repress as soon as possible. Thank you to everyone who bought a copy or even just took time to jam a song. We’ll be seeing this all over the Best Of 2022 lists for sure. Click on this text for the review.

Piri Reis and their ‘Ritma’ 12”LP made the rounds early this morning and we have just a handful of copies left out of our 50 (like…3 in the Canada/International store). Also check out this live video of them playing “When Life Hand you Grenade” and “Unstable Soul Might Get Surprise” back in 2016 in Japan.
