2024 - 06 - 19 /// 'I don't watch sports anymore' + Smush out/amazing

June 19, 2024 by David Norman

The two bangin’ Animal Faces EPs have been released on one 12” and they are selling well. I’ve seen a few people that hadn’t heard of this band before and it was nice to see them flip out. Yes, Animal Faces are that good. Sounds like the Lautrec and Caravels comparisons were helpful.

‘I don’t watch sports anymore’ 12” lathe split between Charger Port and Serling was just released! Check that mathy goodness out below and be sure to snag a ridiculously limited /50 lathe with special jackets by Josh from Vamonos Tapes! The black jackets are the regular covers, but there are a few alternate versions that will be randomly inserted into a few orders! Click on this text for the Serling premiere from This Noise Is Ours that I didn’t have chance to post before today.

Softseed Music released Smush’s debut LP ‘if you were here i’d be home now’ with a 12” pre-order this past Saturday. We’ve got some in the ZBR U.S. store despite the band being Canadian and on Softseed cuz goddamn it’s just so good. Heavy shoegaze/alternative/noise rock that is as powerful as it is beautiful.

Operation X-Ray did a great episode recently with a double dose of Softseed Music featuring both Smush and Leavs. Check out the Leavs music video below!

Click here for the full article!

Exclaim gave both Smush and Terry Green some love with the “8 Emerging Canadian Artists You Need To Hear In June”, and honestly right now these are CanaDave’s two favourite records of 2024. Click on the pic or this text to go to the full post.

Click here for the full article!

Everything Is Noise ran through their fave records of May and two of ours ended up on said list. Demersal and Niboowin have both been selling very well and are killin’ their live shows. Check it out by clicking on this text. I embedded the Niboowin album below for ya.

Our beloved Adam from Terry Green was on the Metal On Metal podcast which is linked via this text. 12”s are so fucking low. Canada/International is out of splatter with only 4 quad left and the U.S. store has like 6 copies total left.

Johnny’s Reco-mmendations: TENUE = We got tapes coming for this next release, check out this epic new music video/song!!!

April 20, 2024 by David Norman

Entwife surprise 4/20 release! 100 cds on Tomb Tree, 50 with us, 50 with the band. LOTR-themed stoner/sludge/doom metal with lotsa screaming. Featuring Robbie from Eyelet and mnwa! CDs are only $4.20 today then they’ll do up at least a buck.

Click to buy from our U.S. store.

Crossed’s ‘Vida Queita’ 12”EP is out! We’ve said it before, but we’ve never had stock for this band last more than a month…and they play ZBR Fest in 2 weeks! Pick one up now before you have no choice but wallow in self-pity.

A reminder that we had a massive distro update that included Moment Of Collapse releases (most notably Cranial, Meraine, and Black Table) and all of the Ostraca 12” releases. Check the full stock in the U.S.A. store here and the Canada/International store here. A few select things that CanaDave is pumped about are embedded below:

CanaDave continues to reminisce about ZBR Fest, this time it’s the very first fest we did, and we did it back in Toronto in 2017 over three days. Pre-show day, poorly attended (cuz we were contending with Daughters) but it was sick. Day 1, exceeded all expectations and was awesome. Day 2, repeat. One of the most gratifying and incredible experiences/surprises of my lifetime. Check out a short recap video below and if you want more info/links/videos just click on the full day link above each recap video.

Pre-show: An Ant And An Atom, Nanette, Terrible As The Dawn, Worst Days, and Hiera. = https://openmindsaturatedbrain.blogspot.com/2017/06/zegema-beach-records-fest-pre-show.html

Day 1: Growing Fins, Sarin, Communovere, The Ultimate Screamo Band, Terry Green, Massa Nera, and Respire. = https://openmindsaturatedbrain.blogspot.com/2017/07/zegema-beach-records-fest-day-1.html

Day 2: Fraera, Lessener, People’s Temple Project, Crowning, What Of Us, The World That Summer, and Foxmoulder. = https://openmindsaturatedbrain.blogspot.com/2017/08/zegema-beach-records-fest-day-2.html

Burial Etiquette’s 12”LP is almost gone. I’m not gonna remind you again (okay maybe 1-2 more times) but I will definitely bump this sick Everything Is Noise review of it. Click on the pic above or this text to go there.

This Noise Is Ours continues their ZBR Roster Review series with the Curtains + New Ruins split cassette. Click on the pic above or this text for the read, or listen below for the pummeling.

2024 - 02 - 20 /// Widowdusk 12"LP, Orchid this week

February 20, 2024 by David Norman

Widowdusk releases digitally March 18th, tapes will follow (definitely before ZBR Fest) and then 12”s (probably soon after ZBR Fest). This thing is by far the best thing they’ve done. Much heavier. Much techier. Much awesomer. English is my powerful tux, what can I say.

Oh yeah, absolutely fucking massive distro update on Thursday. Orchid, Moment Of Collapse, Shove Records and even a couple Blind Girls 3rd presses from No Funeral.

Horseboy is out. It runs wild. There is no taming instinctual amazingness. Try to lasso yourself a copy before they’re gone and runnin’ free.

Click here for the full writeup!

Our Future Is An Absolute Shadow got a hefty/sick write-up from Everything Is Noise. We are very low on these and will undoubtedly sell out this year, most likely before ZBR Fest and possibly even next month. A birdie perched behind a kit in Michigan told me more stuff is coming. Click on this pic above or this text to read the full review, and/or jam/buy below!

This Noise Is Ours gave our sold out Crowning + Maree Noise split a nice review in their lengthy ZBR Roster Review series. I think the only thing we have left in stock by Crowning is a couple of Survival/Sickness tapes in this store. Click on the pic above or this text to read the review, jam below.

Johnny’s Reco-mmendations: LETTINGTHEINTRUSIVETHOUGHTSWIN = Holy fuck, this debut EP from Riley of Gxllium! is fucking fantastic!! TJ McScoperson the III (jr.)!!!

January 11, 2024 by David Norman

Friday Friday Friday is Wave #3 for ZBR Fest 2024! Final reveal (except the pre-show, still comin’ and hot as fuck!) as well as more two-day passes. We usually don’t sell many one-day passes so this year we’ve upped the two-day and decreased the one-day (there will only be 100 for each single day this year) so when your brain explodes upon seeing Wave #3 you can head directly over to www.zbrfest.com to snag your tickets (linked to this text).

Our Future Is An Absolute Shadow is on deck. Their 12” ‘LP’ has been a long time in the making. Fully written on drums first, then guitars/bass, and finally vocals/lyrics - this project has a very weird way of working but it fucking tracks. 3. Word of Ruin 01:04

4. The Shackles I Have Given Myself Are My Treasure 00:48

100 copies of the 12” go up for sale along with the digitals on Monday January 15th at 9am PST / 11am CST / 12pm EST. Jam the new music video below or click on this text to go to the full premiere/info/links from This Noise Is Ours.

Borderline Fuckup continues their lengthy/awesome lists, concluding it with their Top LPs of 2023. You’ll find New Forms, Olth, and a few Tomb Tree releases from My Hair Is A Rat’s Nest, Onewaymirror, and Excrucis on there. Thank you!!! Click on the pic above or this text to go to the list. We still have New Forms 12”s so snag one below!

CanaDave’s Softseed Music label released the Social Caterpillar 12”LP for ‘Alphabet Crown’ in 2023 and it showed up on Everything Is Noise’s list, beating out every ZBR and Tomb Tree release! Yeah…it’s really fucking good! We got some in this store but feel free to support Softseed or the band directly. Click on the pic above or this text for the full list, and jam/buy below!

Johnny’s Reco-mmendations: WASSEE POSSE = Adrian (Drin) from Our Future Is An Absolute Shadow (drums) also makes amazing skate videos. Check out the second installment of Wassee Posse below which features a Burial Etiquette jam during Drin’s ride (8:28)!

Above are the promo pics for each variant, starting with the primary bird/branch/flower swirl (the most abundant) all the way to the test dips (the rarest). Every one looks badass and will probably fly out the door.

Obroa-skai is still getting love, this time from Everything Is Noise focusing on the unique and experimental side of the band. The Canada store should be restocked next week, in the meantime sneak over to the US store to snag a copy. Click on this text or the pic above to go there, or jam/buy below!

Click on the pic to see the list!

Brooklyn Vegan dropped their 10 Best Screamo albums and we’ve got a couple on there! Check out the article to find out who made it!!! Click on the pic above or this text to go there.

Invisible Oranges gave their best grindcore albums from the latter half of 2023 and obviously Closet Witch is on there. Check the list by clicking on this text and jam/buy ‘Chiaroscuro’ below.
