2023 - 09 - 15 /// To Forget + More Premieres

September 15, 2023 by David Norman

We released the phenomenal To Forget lathe 7” yesterday and moved about half of the copies in less than 24 hours. Their 12”LP steadily sold for a month before we moved all 160 copies, and we expect this lathe to do the same (but we only have 50 this time) so if you’re into it please don’t sleep. It’s fantastic!

Riversleem premiered “Eating Teeth” a few days back on Borderline Fuckup, with the full 7” release going down on September 25th so get the fuck ready! We still have copies of their debut 7” in stock as well, give it a jam (so good).

Operation X-Ray premiered enough tracks to knock over a camel! Poor camel. Songs from Loose Teeth, Llewelyn (premiere), My Hair Is A Rat’s Nest (premiere), Riversleem (premiere), and Saton (premiere)!!! Congratulations on your 100th episode Andrew, you rule!

CanaDave helped the band Hillsboro release their self-titled 12”LP on his Softseed Label today. It’s amazing indie rock from Victoria on Vancouver Island, which is also where he is based.

Joliette’s ‘Luz de Bengala’ continues to get stellar reviews, today’s comes from Punkeando! Click on the pic above or this text to go there. Jam/buy it below!

Big Stuff Thing #5 is coming next week! We’ve got mages, handmades, test presses and who the hell knows what else. Before that kicks off on Wednesday morning, I’ve got a handful of leftover Zaffle wins that were never claimed. Do you know these winners? If so please have them email zegemabeachrecords@gmail.com as they haven’t responded to my previous emails. If I don’t get a response by Tuesday September 19th their wins will go unclaimed and be posted in the Big Stuff Thing #5:

Colin Behage
Nick Jumisco
Michael Beyette
Kelvin Graham
Shayna Hagen
Bruno Enders
David Broberg

Hexis + Trauma Model + Jisei show in Victoria on September 23rd is just over a week away! Snag some tickets. Say hi. Get pummeled. Get to sleep early. Click on this text to commit <3

2023 - 09 - 01 /// Weekend Updates

September 01, 2023 by David Norman

Crowning ‘Survival Sickness + Friends’ 12” sold out in like 30 minutes! Fret not, for we only had 35% of the pressing! That means there are 65 copies (minus whatever sold in Cleveland last night) pingin’ around the Eastern U.S.A.. If you are a few hours out and have a means of transportation then snagging one is very much in your grasp. Catch the homies/the bafoons on tour with Niboowin now!

Speaking of tours, Hexis is coming to North America again and dropping by Victoria for their 2nd show of the tour and CanaDave is putting it on! Not only that, but we were able to secure Jisei to open the early/fast night! Music starts at 7pm sharp on September 23rd at Victoria Events Centre. Click on the picture above for tickets or this text for the facebook event page. Poster by Alexis <3

Mexico’s Satón and their fiery new full length ‘a la espera del momento’ releases on October 6th, 2023 and here’s a reveal of the freakin’ most excellent cover. Jam the music videos below and be on the lookout for another new jam next Friday!

Social Caterpillar’s first official single from ‘Alphabet Crown’ is premiering over at (((((OPENmind/SATURATEDbrain))))). If you missed their last record, you are missing out. Beautifully orchestrated folksy indie rock from members of Scowler, Alta, and The Great Redneck Hope. A music video for this song will be released next week via Idioteq.com and the full album comes out October 7th, 2023 on Softseed Music via tapes and 12”s. Click on the picture above or this text to go to the full premiere with lots of additional text from the band.

Johnny’s Reco-mmendations: No band today, just the entire battle set including encore from ZBR Fest 2023 between Crowning and Eyelet on May 5th at Empty Bliss. Hot. Loud. Amazing.

2023 - 08 - 24 /// Joliette tomorrow

August 24, 2023 by David Norman

Joliette’s brand new and most excellent EP ‘Luz de Bengala’ releases in full tomorrow! My god we are stoked!!! So the variant breakdown is 300 ‘Sink Rose’ swirl, 100 ‘Sea Glass’ (ZBR exclusive variant) and 100 ‘Porcelain’ (Joliette exclusive variant), but we’ll have all 3 variants up (although only about 5 of the transparent/100) on Friday at 9am PST / 11am CST / 12pm EST!!! Jam that new music video for “Charlotte” below!

Satón unleashed another killer music video following their amazing New Friends Fest 2023 performance. I think it’s important to note that their drummer Gabo drummed for Joliette for nearly a decade!!! Jam it below

No Clean Singing also wrote an article on the previous music video as well, be sure to check it out! Click on this text to go to the review and video.

Eyelet’s ‘The Howling in the Hall’ is both exceptional and riddled with sadness. Find out why in the 166th episode of Out Past the Rings. Listen to it here.

Clix for Tix!!!

Hexis and Trauma Model’s show in Victoria is just under a month away! September 23rd at the Victoria Events Centre in…you guessed it, Victoria. Click on the pic above for tickets or click on this text for the Facebook event page.

Let’s return to Hiding in the Outpost, shall we? These are products that we are down to the last copies of. Today’s installment for the Widowdusk + Ihuntmonsters split on shows that I have two freaking test dips still in stock! Those usually sell first but I had them set aside in case of any issues. Grab now or forever hold your peace.

WIDOWDUSK + IHUNTMONSTERS - Split (cassette)
from CA$15.00

WIDOWDUSK + IHUNTMONSTERS ‘Split’ cassette EP (TT100)

For fans of: Funeral Diner, Montcalm, 2 O’Clock Girlfriend, and The Great Redneck Hope.

Our 100th release is a celebration of this window into the future of screamo. Not even 19 years old, WIDOWDUSK hail from California and have been gathering a bunch of hype along the way. This the band’s pre-LP material and marks a shift into darker/screamier territory. IHUNTMONSTERS is a solo project from In Case Of Capture. This collection of songs are ridiculously heavy and concise, bringing to mind false grind meets emo-violence and panic chords. So fucking good. And the tapes? Perhaps the most beautiful we’ve ever done. On two variants, Tomb/Tree. Alternate art (the blue-ish one) by Kyle Calvert Design.

Tapes /102, 70 on Tomb swirl, 25 on Tree swirl and 7 test dips, all w/double-sided jcard. 5 songs.

2023 - 08 - 02 /// Olth 2.0

August 02, 2023 by David Norman

Olth is out on 12”! Considering how fast 150 tapes went you better believe these won’t last long!!! Buy links are ALWAYS on the bandcamp page at the bottom.

Satón just released their second single from 'A la espera del momento' titled "Mandíbula de cristal"! Tapes are in hand and ready for the Oct. 6th release on Tomb Tree. For fans of: Joliette, Naivete, Zvleta, and O.

The Loose Teeth + Constrain split cassette is out of stock in Canada, so it’s U.S. store only for everyone else who wants one! Linked via this text <3

Malevich absolutely ruined CanaDave at the 2019 fest so it was a no-brainer to bring those fine lads back. We will continue posting the single videos for each band that played the last day of ZBR Fest 2023 in the order that they played, so there’s more coming!

Johnny’s Reco-mmendations: CARA NEIR + TERRIFYING GIRLS’ HIGH SCHOOL = CanaDave helped coordinate this split when Garry asked him to find a sassy/screamy band for him to do a split with. Voila!

2023 - 07 - 07 /// Nhomme + In Loving Memory + Saton

July 07, 2023 by David Norman

Jesse Mowery is a goddamned hero. His screamo output has been both consistent and incredible, starting off in the screamo scene with Altar Of Complaints, then moving into a ton of stuff including Majorel, In Wolves’ Clothing, Apostles Of Eris, Our Future Is An Absolute Shadow…this list goes on. He’s had a rough go to say the least, and after missing work for sciatica pain he’s financially hurtin’. Please donate some money to him and his family, he’s only $800 from reaching his $5,000 goal. Click on the pic or this text to donate.

Nhomme sold out months back after just a few weeks, and with half of 2023 still remaining it would be silly for us not to make more! 155 more copies were made, variants include 90 white/black/silver sparkle (almost all band copies), 40 multi-color swirl, 10 purple swirl, 5 test dips, 5 bandcamp-exclusive stamped bag editions (not pictured), and 3 clear. We’ll officially release them on Monday July 10th at 9am PST / 11am CST / 12pm EST. Another reminder to check out the awesome music video below to see how the packaging was created.

In Loving Memory has their second single up so check that shit out! The tapes shipped to CanaDave yesterday so we’ll have them just in time for the release on the 21st of July!!!

Saton has a new album coming out later this year and they just debuted the first single/music video “Noni” on the ZBR youtube channel. Tomb Tree is taking care of the tapes for this release. Much more to come from this stellar Mexican hardcore/metal/screamo band!

Ninehertz Podcast gave us a hella bump when discussing Zampler 21 and the new Riversleem song contained therein. It’s a great podcast that focuses primarily on doom but definitely branches out, hence our inclusion!

Rainmaking made a massive trek from the West Coast to play this show and we couldn’t be more grateful. Amazing humans. Incredible EP. Awesome set. We will continue posting the single videos for each band that played ZBR Fest 2023 in the order that they played, so there’s more coming!

Johnny’s Reco-mmendations: LONG COLD STARE = New EP from Alabama with equal parts sass, metalcore, and mathcore.
